So let us tell you a few words about what kind of festival 70000 Tons of Metal is.
Every year this crazy metal festival held on board of a cruise ship gathers 60 metal bands from all over the world performing across 4 stages, including “The World’s Largest Open Air Stage to Sail the Seas”, cruising for 5 days in The Caribbean.
The plan of this super metal cruise was created back in 2006 by a Swiss music promoter Andy Miller and his idea turns into great success.
Watch this video to see how 70000 tons team brought to life this plan that seemed almost crazy:
Already on February 1st, 2018 GYZE will board the ship that will cruise from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Cockburn Town, Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos Islands getting back to Fort Lauderdale on February 5th.
70000 tons have so far announced 36 great metal acts from all around the world to join the cruise in 2018:
Aborted, Aeternam, Alestorm, Battle Beast, Benediction, Benighted, Cannibal Corpse, Dark Tranquillity, Die Apokalyptischen Reiter, Enslaved, Exiter, Freedom Call, Goatwhore, GYZE, In Extremo, Insomnium, Korpiklaani, Kreator, Masterplan, Meshuggah, Metal Church, Necrophobic, Obscura, October Tide, Primal Fear, Rhapsody, Sabaton, Samael, Septicflesh, Sepultura, Sinister, Sonata Arctica, Swallow The Sun, Witchery, Wolfchant, Wolfheart. The stages we’ll play on, the floating hotel and moreover the name of the ship itself, which is “MS Independence of the Seas” are filled with metal spirit!
With a capacity of 5800 people including the crew every year this great metal ship gets packed to the rafters with metalheads from all around the world (73 countries including Japan were represented on board in 2017!) to sail in the Caribbean Sea. It somehow feels like a fantastic journey from Pirates of the Caribbean.
